GBrowse Annotation File Management Proposal
From GMOD
Lincoln and I talked about a possible GBrowse enhancement this morning. This page is to discuss the design and progress of that potential enhancement. --Jhannah 10:57, 1 June 2007 (EDT)
The Idea
Add usernames, passwords, and a homepage feature for annotation file management. What files I uploaded, when, how big they are, a short text description, let me delete them, etc.
The current annotation upload feature is cookie based. There's currently no way (via the browser) to manage the annotation files I uploaded after the fact.
Future: Control the private vs. public status of each file I uploaded? Or set up a password I can give only to trusted people? Or list their usernames? -ponder- DAS integration? -ponder-
Status
- Closing ticket on my side. --Jhannah 15:34, 30 November 2007 (EST)
- Just returned from the GMOD meeting @ CSHL. I don't think I'm going to get around to this project any time soon. If anyone else picks it up be aware that GBrowse 3.0 (the AJAX / Google Maps style version) is a complete re-write. Should this feature be written into that version as well whenever it comes out? --Jhannah 10:30, 11 November 2007 (EST)
- I'm in Australia for 3 weeks. When I return I'll try to noodle through a design and post it here. --Jhannah 10:57, 1 June 2007 (EDT)
- I opened ticket # 5 (-laugh-) for this project in our ultra-brand-new RT database, which will drive my workload upon my return.
