Possible TableEdit/Wiki hackathon projects

These are some things we are planning to work on, but could use hackathon help on --18:00, 26 July 2007 (EDT)

TableEdit possible goals

• TableEdit Chado round trip

  We would like to have Wiki tables populated from Chado (this is relatively easy) and Chado data updated or created from the wiki. The hard part is probably resolving edit conflicts.

  Since you are mostly dealing with textual information, maybe this isn't too much of a problem; just let everything in. If people put in conflicting information, let the community sort it out. Scott 10:09, 27 July 2007 (EDT)

• TableEdit IntraWiki Interaction

  Two or more tables in a wiki could be interconnected so that updating the Table in page A triggers an update of the table in page B. Use case: GO annotations on wiki pages

• Restricting search to Tables

  This one is relatively simple and we might have a prototype before the hackathon - modify the wiki search system to restrict searching to a particular class of tables or fields.

• AJAX

Other possible wiki for gmod goals

Improving Category pages

• Displaying Category intersections, unions, and disjoints.
• Displaying more levels of the Category DAG
• Allow user-defined filtering of Category members
• {{:Category:AJAX|AJAX]] (buiid on this?)

Wiki for GMOD installer?

• Should we think about writing an installer that would install a standard MediaWiki plus needed code patches and extensions to be a "GMOD wiki"?

Perhaps, but unless it's easy, I wouldn't make this a priority for the hackathon. I'm hoping to leave the hackathon with a working VMware appliance that already has MW installed. Scott 10:11, 27 July 2007 (EDT)
